Shivapuri National Park

Last weekend I was invited with a group of couchsurfers for a hiking adventure in Shivapuri National Park.  There are four major hills surrounding Kathmandu Valley, and this one is along the North, some 2700 meters. On one side there should be a great view of Kathmandu, and on the other, an even more amazing view of the Himalayan Range.

It turned out to be a hike of never ending stairs.  Stairs, stairs, and more stairs! New creatures like super long worms, yellow slugs, spiders as big as your hand, and some animal at the top...we think a yellow bearded martin, but what if it was a leopard!  Yes, they live here!

At the top there was a small field with absolutely no view.  The trees and bushes surrounding were too high.  After lunch we headed down another set of stairs and almost missed the giant bolder.  I wanted to take a look, so we climbed on top and realized...OH, here's the view!  It was cloudy, but every once in a while opened up to the landscape. Can you tell which "cloud" is actually a mountain peak. Check it out, it's there!
